Before joining HPL, Miranda spent 12 years in non-profit fundraising and development, which included work with organizations focused on community redevelopment, animal welfare, and the performing arts. Prior to her work in non-profit development, Miranda pursued a career in theater\/film and taught both disciplines in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Houston. Miranda credits her performing arts background as the crucial element needed for storytelling and her attention to detail, both of which are vital to being a grant professional.<\/p>\n<p>Miranda is a graduate of The American Musical and Dramatic Academy (CPT in Acting), Loyola University Chicago (BA in Theater Arts and English), and the University of Houston (MFA in Theater). She is a member of the Grant Professionals Association (GPA) Southeast Texas Chapter (SETC) and currently serves on the SETC Board of Directors as the Scholarship Committee Chair. She began her work in Houston ISD (HISD) as a science teacher before moving into leadership as a Title I Coordinator and a 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) grant Program Coordinator. She later joined the Harris County Department of Education\u2019s Cooperative for After-School Enrichment (CASE), where she provided grant support across more than 25 campuses, managed the redesign of the CASE website and data-collection systems, and launched the CASE Ambassadors student leadership group. Olivia is now the Executive Director of Grants for Pasadena ISD.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She holds a B.S. in Biology from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) and an M.Ed. in Administration from Lamar University. In October 2013, Olivia earned her Grant Professional Certified designation. To give back to the field, Olivia volunteered as president of the Grant Professionals Association-Southeast Texas Chapter in 2013 and 2014 and for one term as secretary in 2012. She is the owner\/principal of Carol Bornstein Consulting, LLC, a grants consulting firm specializing in private and corporate foundation grant writing and prospect research, coaching in funder cultivation, and grants calendar management services for nonprofit organizations. Since 2005, she\u2019s been figuring out how to \u201cmake things happen\u201d (her first official job description). After working in marketing, communications, and program management for 14 years, she accidentally became the Grant Coordinator for an equine-assisted services ranch and learned how to write grants.<\/p>\n<p>Ashley approaches grants with a communicator\u2019s training. She increased the ranch\u2019s grant revenue by 68% in her first two and a half years. She has since joined GPA, earned her GPC, and founded her own consulting business, Ashley Lane Consulting. With over 15 years of non-profit experience, her expertise extends into grant writing, fund development, organizational leadership, program evaluation and implementation, budgeting, marketing, and coaching. Marissa\u2019s gift lies in guiding clients to the strongest grant applications through her combined understanding of nonprofit programs and funder needs.<\/p>\n<p>Her work is distinguished not only by the measurable results she delivers\u2014such as securing grants as large as $3 million and driving forward major capital campaigns\u2014but also by the care and precision with which she crafts each proposal. As a grant professional, she has researched, written, and edited millions of dollars of proposals for over 25 non-profits, most based in Greater Houston.<\/p>\n<p>Before focusing on grant writing and consulting in 2021, Marissa was the first Executive Director of Keep US Fed Montgomery County, a food rescue organization. Her previous professional roles include a diverse list of non-profits: Girl Scouts, United Way, parks and recreation, and disability advocacy.
